Bunko or stationery box in a large rectangular form beveled at the top edges, ornamented with flowering grasses in summer on the edge of a sunlit pond. Of fundame or matte gold lacquer; the foliage executed in roiro or mirror-polished, high-relief takamaki-e; the leaf veins in red lacquer; and the flower petals of white raden or inlaid mother-of-pearl; the interior in dense nashiji or gold flake lacquers; the reverse in roiro or mirror polished black lacquer. With applied silver rims. Signed by the artist on the reverse in gold takamaki-e: Bisei Saku or Made by Bisei (Yasutani Bisei, the gō or art name of Yasutani Kenji, 1901 – 1983). Shōwa 8 or 1933.

With the tomobako or original box, inscribed on the exterior of the lid: Mizube or Waterside; and dated on the reverse of the lid: Shōwa hachi-nen, kugatsu or Shōwa (era) 8th year, September; and signed: Bisei Saku or Made by Bisei; and sealed: Bisei. With a paper label applied to the reverse of the lid inscribed: Daijyū-yon Kai Teikoku Bijutsu-in Tenrankai Shuppin or Made for Exhibtion at the 14th Imperial Art Exhibition (Teiten). With the tomogire or original green silk wrapping cloth, sealed by the artist.
