Painting of the sea currents at Naruto. Shitsuga dry lacquer painting, the base carved in heragei technique. Titled: Naruto Ouzu or Naruto Great Whirlpool. Signed on the lower right in red lacquer: Hakuo, and with a kao (Iriyama Hakuo, 1904 – 1991). With a new steel frame. Showa 43 or 1968.
With an applied paper label on the reverse inscribed by the artist: Shitsuga Naruto Ouzu, Showa Yon-ju-san-nen, Go-gatsu (1968) or Lacquer Painting (titled) Naruto Great Whirlpool (& dated) Showa (era) 43rd Year, (painted in) May; then sealed: Hakuo.
