Pair of Imperial presentation vases of silver, chiseled and inlaid in shibuichi, shakudo and gold with designs of landscapes. The necks inlaid in gold with the Imperial chrysanthemum crest. Each vase signed on the reverse by the artist with a chiseled signature, Shimizu Nanzan Kinkoku or Carved by Shimizu Nanzan (Shimizu Nanzan was the Go or art name for Shimizu Kamezo). Late Meiji – early Taisho era, circa 1900 – 1920.

Shimizu Nanzan was born in Hiroshima. He studied under Kano Natsuo and Fujita Bunzo. Later he became an Imperial Household Artist and a member of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts. In 1948 he died at the age of 73.
