MEIJI-TAISHO
ANDO JUBEI, MORIAGE ENAMEL FLOWER VASE
Vase in a baluster form encircled at the shoulder with a garland of myriad blossoms against a pale blue-green ground. Of cloisonné enamels with silver mounts. The design executed in moriage relief, with silver wire, and shaded in musen wireless and shosen reduced wire techniques. Sealed on the reverse with the Ando mark in silver wire (Ando Jubei, active late 19th – early 20th century). Late Meiji – Taisho era, circa 1910 – 1920.
Brilliant clear enamels, delicately shaded and executed in superb relief place this vase among the best enamel work ever produced.
