MAKUZU KOZAN I, LARGE PORCELAIN VASE WITH PEONIES

Vase in a large baluster form, with a design of flowering peony blowing in the wind against a lemon yellow ground, of porcelain with carved moriage relief detail and hand painted in colored enamels. Signed on the reverse in underglaze blue by the artist: Makuzu Kozan Sei or Made by Makuzu Kozan (Makuzu Kozan I, or Miyagawa Kozan, 1842 – 1916). Late Meiji era, circa 1890 – 1912.
