KANAMOR EIICHI, 1955, SILVER INLAID BRONZE VASE

Vase in an asymmetrical ovoid form ornamented with six irregular diamond reserves floating in relief and with triangular bands at the top and bottom of fine cross hatching. Of cast bronze with silver inlay. Signed on the reverse on an inlaid silver plaque by the artist: Eiichi Saku or Made by Eiichi (Kanamori Eiichi, born 1908). Showa 30 or 1955.

With the tomobako or original box, inscribed on the exterior of the lid: Seido Zogan Kabin, Hitotsu or Inlaid Bronze Vase, A Single (Vase); and on the reverse of the lid dated: Showa Kinoto Hitsuji Chushu or Mid-autumn of Showa Year of the Sheep (1955), and signed: Eiichi Saku or Made by Eiichi, and sealed.

Born in Toyama Prefecture in 1908, Kanamori Eiichi was a Takaoka City metal artist who specialized in inlay work. Prior to the War, Eiichi was accepted as an exhibitor at the BuntenTeiten and Hoshukuten; after the War, he continued to exhibit frequently at the Nitten.
