ITO TESSEKI, DOUBLE LOTUS TRAY
Tray in the form of two rippling lotus leaves, their edges curling and partly eaten by insects. Of carved keiyaki (zelkova) burl wood. Signed on the reverse with a carved signature by the artist: Tesseki and with a kakihan (Ito Tesseki, active early 20th century). Late Meiji era, circa 1890 – 1912.
With a period wood storage box.
Ito Tesseki was a student of Kano Tessai (1845 – 1925), who worked in Nara.
