NISHIOKA SHIKO, 1965 NITTEN EXHIBITIONS

Vase in a pillowing abstract form, with a curving and undecorated black surface that seems to fold over on itself. Of kanshitsu or dry lacquer, finished in roiro or mirror-polished black lacquer. Signed “Kiyoshi” on the reverse in raised red lacquer by the artist: Showa era, circa 1960 – 1970.

With the tomobako or original box inscribed: Kanshitsu Kaki Kuro Zo or Dry Lacquer Flower Vase Titled “Black Elephant”.
