MEIJI-TAISHO

HATTORI TADASABURO, HEXAGONAL ENAMEL FERN VASE

Vase in a flaring hexagonal form ornamented with a design of spring fern fronds against a pale blue ground. Of cloisonné enamels executed in silver wire, raised moriage relief, and musen or wireless technique. With applied silver rims. Signed on the reverse with a chiseled signature by the artist: Hattori (Hattori Tadasaburo, active in Nagoya during the Late Meiji – Taisho Era). With the original carved rosewood stand with pierce-work lapets. Late Meiji Era, circa 1900 – 1912.

With a period storage box lined in padded white silk.
