CHINESE, LATE MING DYNASTY BAMBOO SCEPTRE

Ruyi sceptre carved from bamboo in the form of lingzhi fungus, of rich golden brown color. Minute age cracks in places. Chinese, 17th century. With a Japanese collector’s box inscribed: Old Bamboo Reishi Sceptre, the interior with an inscription by Kokoku: In the Fall of the First Year of Meiji (1868) I Received this Wonderful Rare Gift.
